Sitting on the Fence: How to decide between brushing versus spraying

Interior painting is rarely a job for a paint sprayer, with the exception new construction where a blow-and-go professional crew might knock out a thousand square feet at a time. There are some exceptions to this general rule. If you are finishing wainscoting, inlaid wood panel walls, built in book cases or cabinets and are looking for a fine finish, spraying is the way to go. And for exterior projects–like siding, fences, sheds, shutters, and Adirondack chairs–spraying can be a major time-saver compared to tedious brushing and rolling. Privacy fences with staggered posts, or patterns that don’t follow a flat plane, can be particularly time consuming when you have to brush each and every little side.
